Walking into Venture X Holyoke, therapist Ramon Lorenzi knew the space would offer a different ambiance than most mental health offices.
“If you think about mental health, pre-Covid,” he said, “sometimes there were no windows, it was two chairs and a desk. It was not a good space for someone with depression to go into.”

It started when Lorenzi worked closely with children experiencing behavioral issues.
“These children that experience neglect and abuse, there’s a lot of other stuff going on,” Lorenzi said. “There’s a real need there.”
He eventually created Lorenzi Health to find a way to tackle these circumstances. Using a model created by Commonwealth Care Alliance, with whom they closely work, the focus is on social determinants of health and finding a team of care to work together for patients.
“We’re all going to work collaboratively to give you the best service possible in order to solve those social issues that you might have,” Lorenzi said.
He’s also focused on reducing the barriers that exist to receiving mental health therapy.
“There’s a different way that this is going to look post-Covid, and we’re going to make sure that we’re a leader in that,” he said, whether it’s virtually, a hybrid option or something else completely.
As circumstances change in the next several years, Lorenzi anticipates that a certain number of patients will want to continue sessions remotely. He acknowledges that the convenience and lack of commute makes it an ideal option for many. He’s also ready to see patients in person when the time comes.
Lorenzi acknowledges that when businesses have to sign a multi-year lease for office space, it can limit prospects for growth and flexibility. With Venture X Holyoke, he’s able to move into a larger workspace when the environment changes and more patients can be seen in person. Alternatively, if his business slows or is focused more on remote patients, he can move to a smaller office within Venture X Holyoke without having to change his address.
