“It’s cool because they’re not coworkers, so you can speak more freely with everyone around you,” LeHouiller said.

Carving a Niche

LeHouiller’s experience began in entrepreneurial studies, then recruiting and local staffing. During the pandemic he and his Hire Standard Staffing partners recognized that many people were seeking work opportunities that were flexible with location and even schedule.

“We set ourselves apart because we were creating a sought-after thing,” he said. “We’re offering a product that fits what so many people need or were looking for”

“To have an opportunity to take control and advantage of your life like that, it’s super easy to market. People really gravitate towards the content we put out there,” LeHouiller said.

The model has been successful. Using bots he’s able to screen potential employees and connect them with positions, putting roughly 800 to 1,000 vetted and qualified candidates in front of hiring managers each week. He’s had to shift his thought process of using traditional recruiting methods, instead focusing on social media and other unexpected sources. At the same time there’s been a need for businesses to adapt their own work processes and brick-and-mortar mentality. Being open to the rapidly changing environment has required many employers to request a recruiter who can be agile and provide candidates who are savvy in technology and prepared for a new way of operating.

Some of those conversations led me to have some of those lightbulb moments,” LeHouiller said. “I think the environment and inclusion you have just from being there stands to benefit you more than anything else.”
